Bishop Sutton 5, Clevedon Town 1 in the SPC !!!

Postby Dave S on Wed Oct 07, 2009 9:23 pm

Well, I know we have no interest these days in the Somerset Premier Cup because we haven't taken part in it for 2 or 3 years now, but hey, what about this score tonight then: BISHOP SUTTON 5, CLEVEDON TOWN 1 !

According to someone on the Clevedon forum, Clevedon were "totally outplayed in the second half."

Old pal Steve S isn't too happy either and he plans to write a report on the game tomorrow "when I have calmed down" he says. Oh dear!

That should make interesting reading tomorrow then! Maybe it's just as well we aren't involved these days, otherwise it could have been us on the end of a banana skin like that........

Well, having read the Clevedon manager's comments on their website, he has at least admitted his side were poor in the 2nd half, he's apologised to the supporters (the gate was only 40 anyway), etc etc, but he has, in my view, still contradicted himself.

The other day, he said "I want to win the game" when previewing it, but now he's said that the SPC is "not high on my agenda" and said he would have fielded the youth side if he could have done, (that's taking it seriously then) but injuries etc meant he couldn't do that. SO OPT OUT THEN! OK, we had two county FA's to consider when we opted out, but they, of course, have only one. Do they have to take part???

But when he said about Bishop Sutton last night, "They were a very average side", hhmm, I think he could have "praised" them a bit better than that, because they obviously did well enough to win 5-1.

Still, he also says that if they win in the league on Saturday, then the Bishop Sutton game will be forgotten. Will it???
