Fair play to the board.

Postby Danny West on Wed Oct 21, 2009 10:27 am

For not cashing in on our 4th qualifying round tie and putting admission prices up. Prices have been held at £8 for adults, £5 concessions and just £1 for under 16's.

To be honest I wouldn't have minded paying an extra couple of quid, some would say no to that but for a fixture at this stage of the FA Cup I wouldn't have had a problem with paying £10.

So as I said fair play to the board of Mangotsfield United.

Details of car parking and bar opening times are available on the clubs official website along with confirmation of the above prices.

Sensible move. Jacking up prices would have rattled a few cages and there are one or two regulars that I know, who are still brassed off at paying £8!

Let's hope that we can attract a decent sized crowd. Realistically about 600/700. :D

Unfortunately Dave S and myself will not be there, but our thoughts will be!!

I would congratulate the board...however they did not lower the price of admission when we started playing a lower standard of league football this season. I would gladly pay a tenner to see the 4th qualifying round match on the proviso that league admission was reduced to £6.
One has to take into account that those who usually comment on the generosity of the board regarding admission prices, are the ones who aren't actually paying to get in!!!! (Bob Smale excepted who does have sympathy for those of us poor blighters who do.)
Cue Dave S with half-time entry observation.

HOC, I feel obliged to point out to you that SOME of us who don't have to pay for entry to ZLS&WD fixtures DO have to pay for ALL cup fixtures.

So as a supporter who WILL be paying on Saturday I will once again state that I'd have had no problem with paying £10 as opposed to £8 for an FA Cup 4th qualifying round tie.

I do apologise.
For those who only pay to watch cup games it represents an excellent gesture from the board.
For those who pay for league games it is just sensible as we would otherwise question why the admission price hasn't been dropped to £6 to match the standard of the league we are in.
Once again, apologies to those who have had to pay for the cup matches but not the league ones. I did not realise this was the case but now I am informed about it I realise how upsetting my comments must be.

HOC I didn't find your comments in the least bit "upsetting", I was merely correcting you.

However your offer of an apology is a fine gesture, typical of a man of your moral standing.

I take my hat off to you and salute he who is HOC, a fine fellow indeed, a rarity in todays world.

It's so good (or is it bad and/or boring) to read of such peace and harmony on the site.

Now, who can I upset for the craic? Am I evil, yes I am (a great rock track by Diamond Head).

Many thanks Danny.
The volunteers who make the Mango experience a far more pleasant one are far worth their 'payment' of free entry into Mango home lge games.

Jeez, there is a defo end of season "Wedding" on the cards here!
I haven't been a happy bunny at this seasons admission prices but wouldn't have a problem at paying an increase for this game. My reasoning is that you expect to pay more for quality and despite their league position Forest Green due to the status they have would merit a higher gate price.
What has given me the hump is that relegation has given us a drop in quality yet we have seen no decrease in the eight quid charged last season for Prem fixtures. Its all about value for money and in my opinion prices should reflect the standard you are playing at and the quality of opposition.
You wouldn't expect to pay the same price for a night with the local slapper than you would with a high class call girl. Whoops! There goes ol Stella's new career as a primary school teacher with examples like that to illustrate a point!
Anyway, as has been said fair play to the board for holding the price for this one. So how do people reckon this game will go? A few years back we played Stalybridge here and they were struggling like FGR are this season. They beat us by a single goal but the truth was they never gave us a sniff on goal in the whole ninety minutes and the gap in class was evident. This game will probably be similar but the difference this time is we have a lot of pacy young kids in the team and if they show no fear and keep running at them we may just have a chance. We will need to take any goal chances that come our way. As long as we give it our best shot we can do no more!

Stella, first you give us priceless info about local slappers, then you focus on coke addiction and finally round off by informing all and sundry that there will be loads of young kids on view and that it is worth extra admission money. Jeez mate, I'm expecting not to have such a good view tomorrow, but if Gary Glitter turns up in that high wig of his and blots out the pitch I will hold you responsible.
