Interesting post on the Chippenham forum....

Postby Dave S on Thu Sep 24, 2009 8:22 pm

Spotted this just now on the Bluebirds Beak, the unofficial Chippenham Town forum, which just goes to show that nothing in life ever stays the same and then you realise that sometimes we all need a change from what we do:

The message is from the 2 guys who run the Bluebirds Beak, Quote:

"After long and careful consideration, Simon and I regret to announce that we have decided to call it a day, and will be retiring from administering the unofficial forum 'Bluebirds- Beak'.
The clubs forum was set up about 8 years ago and would at one time crackle with excitement and occasionally - (well often), controversy. Anyone remember Friday night live chat?
Times move on, things change, but the forum demands a level of impetus to keep it moving, and some administration to keep things in order. Both of which require time. Not a lot, but if you add up all the minutes taken to post little snippets of rubbish, you'd be surprised at how long we spend on here, Alternatively, look at our post count!

For whatever reason, its also true that we can no longer give that impetus, with the same enthusiasm or appetite. Thus its time to move on - Frankly its not the same vibe, and a lot of the enjoyment has gone. Much in the same way as the vocal support has dwindled virtually stopped at the games, the written word is also becoming a thing of the past, maybe its time for a new 'something' - I just don't know what that something is!
Anyway, if anyone would like to assume the mantle of the chap who runs the unofficial message board, get the privilege of falling out with everybody, and be jeered as you walk through the gates then let us know by 30th September.

If we have no takers at this point, then we will shut the forum down. Thanks very much to everybody who has contributed over the years!

George & Simon

Unquote.

Of course, we don't play Chippenham these days, but even in the last couple of seasons, they certainly didn't bring as many fans to Cossham St as they used to in the Tommy Saunders era, and their home gates, whilst still good from our point of view, are also not what they were. It used to be 500+, now it's 400+. Big difference.

Hope they can get something sorted out there in the next few days for their forum. They've far more fans to ask from than we would have at Cossham Street if the same situation ever happened here!

No one seems to have offered to take over the running of the Chippenham board yet. All registered members will have had an e-mail by now asking them if they want to help take it over (I had one earlier), so right now, it's heading for closure on the 30th unless someone steps forward...........
