Weymouth and Tiverton Town

Postby Dave S on Sun Oct 11, 2009 10:16 pm

Spotted this on the Tiverton messageboard as once again, they debate the future of THEIR manager Martyn Rogers (following their latest debacle) asking what does it take for a manager to get the sack......

"Matt Hale stepped down as manager at Weymouth after losing 5-0 at home to Maidenhead yesterday."

Matt Hale's only been there since the summer, hasn't he? A bit like John Barnes at Tranmere! Sorry to hear that it hasn't worked out for our ex-player Matt Hale.....

As for Martyn Rogers, yes, we all know that he's not just the manager at Ladysmead, he's the commercial manager & umpteen other things as well, but the fact is that having managed the team for, what, 20-odd years, it really is time for a change at the helm down there. A new face is badly needed at Tiverton to freshen things up on the pitch. 20 years with the same manager is far too long for most clubs except Man Utd & Crewe.

Let's be honest, Rogers has been in charge down there for far too long & if I was a Tivvy fan, that's what I'd be saying as well. Yes, thanks for all the good years in the Screwfix League, Wembley etc, but since they reached the Southern League Premier Division, they've done nothing and are now stagnating. If ever a club needed a new manager, it is Tiverton Town.

Now that'll be a match to catch next Saturday : TIVERTON TOWN v TRURO CITY. Devon v Cornwall. Their big 2 meet at last. Tivvy fans will still be talking about losing 5-0 to Bashley and Truro fans will still be talking about this coming Tuesday night......

Well, Bob, who knows whether we'll be doing the programme in another year, or two years or five years even??? At least you're retired, so you've got all the time in the world. Some of us still have to keep the country running.

Mind you, now that we're part of the EU, will we have to conform to European football programme standards? Limited number of pages? Same cover price across the whole of Europe (2 Euros)? Staples in a certain place only? Only 3.5 pages on the visitors and not a word more? And definitely no Field Marshall because he always criticizes UEFA & FIFA?? If Brussels say we can't do this or can't do that, will you take heed of what Brussels say??? :D :D :D

That's the biggest misconception going. A nasty rumour spread around by civil servants, who do b****r all anyway. I don't know how I found the time to go to work in the first place :D :D

As you are a Government employee, that makes you a Blair/Brown lackey and you know what I think of them! Anyway, I must jump to the appropriate forum now or the webmaster (bless his cotton socks) will be after me
