Troubled Zamaretto League Division One Midlands club Bromsgrove Rovers are on the brink of having a new owner after an offer for the club was accepted by the administrator.

Several consortia were in the running to take control of the Victoria Ground outfit after it was placed into administration on October 19th, owing in the region of £600,000 and facing a winding up order from former director John Teece.

A bid has been accepted from Mike Ward by administrators Sanderling Limited Liability Partnership but needs approval from the Football Association and club creditors.

In a statement, Ward said: “Until everything is finalised I think it would not be right for me to start issuing statements to the press of what our intentions are for the future of the club.

“What I can say is that there are other people involved in my bid.

“When everything is finalised then, and only then, will I speak publicly of our intentions regarding the future of your football club.”

However, Ward moved to quash rumours that chairman Tom Herbert, who has said he will stand down, is involved with his bid.

Rovers are currently second from bottom in the table after being deducted ten points for going into administration.
