TV coverage

Postby Danny West on Wed Oct 14, 2009 1:04 pm

Fair play to ITV, on the 1.55pm local news bulletin there was a two minute or so feature on last night's match showing both goals, Tony Court's two penalty saves, Jason Wood's winning penalty plus a brief interview with the pair of them and also a word with Sean McCarthey.

That was a decent piece, although I was surprised to see that Tony Court wasn't flicking the v's at the away fans!

The piece on the 6pm news also featured a brief interview with Phil Bater and also showed a little more action, the interview with Sean McCarthy was dropped.

By 6am this morning, the Bater interview had been dropped and the Sean McCarthy piece was used to wrap somebody's chips in Easton in Gordano. None of the goals were shown or anything of the penalty shootout. But it was mentioned that David Beckham had been made man of the match for looking towards Mangotsfield at one point out of his hotel bedroom in central London.
Incidentally, when Sean McCarthy signed on loan at the City, it was at that point that I realised I needed to invest in a widescreen tv.

Nice to see the action clips & interviews on the 6.30 news last night, and hey, Keith Hack & Yours Truly can be spotted after Jason Wood's penalty.

Please form an orderly queue for autographs. No pushing at the back there!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that the first time we've been on the TV news since the FA Vase semi-finals in 1996, the clips of which I still have on tape?

No Dave, we have regularly featured on Crimewatch since then regarding a scam to fleece unsuspecting members of the public of £8 a time with the promise that they will watch football.

Then again, HOC, there's no charge at all for just 45 minutes football at Cossham Street, as long as it's between the 46th & 90th minutes

Sounds like a bargain to me!
